Pressure Cleaning

Many of our new clients are unfamiliar with the roof cleaning process. Our goal is to properly educate our clients about the exterior cleaning and care of their residential and/or commercial property.

A common misperception regarding exterior cleaning, and especially roof cleaning, is that high pressure is required to remove algae, mildew, dirt and other contaminates. Pressure cleaning shingle roofs can cause granule loss and damaging leaks. It can also cause chipping, cracking and color fading on tile roofs as well as the above-mentioned leaks. Inexperienced cleaning contractors or Do-it-Yourselfers can often do more harm than good when attempting to clean a roof surface with too much pressure. Not only can this be dangerous for an inexperienced home owner, but it also shortens the life of the roofing material. As many know, replacing a roof can be inconvenient, time-consuming, and expensive.

We at All Seasons Exteriors, Inc. use the non-pressure roof cleaning method recommended by the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA). Non-pressure chemically-treated roofs have been proven to stay clean significantly longer than those which have had nothing other than a pressure washer and water used on them. Our cleaning process is accomplished by using only enough pressure to apply the chemical solution to the roof surface. The solution is sprayed at a pressure consistent with a drizzling rain and the algae and mildew stains are immediately removed. A strong downpour actually strikes the roof surface with more pressure than this proven chemical cleaning process.
